West New York eyes restrictions for garbage and recycling collection

The measure would apply to🌞 private haulers🍸 operating in town

The West New York Board of Commissioner met via Zoom on August 10.

West New York is contemplating establishing time restrictions on the collection of solid waste and💙 recyclable materials by private parties in town.

M𓆏ayor Gabriel Rodriguez and the Board of Commissioners introduced an ordinance that would do so at its August 10 meeting.

According to the ordinance, the collection of solid waste and recyclable materials by private parties at haphazard times ✅within the town is detrimental to the public welfare.

It is within the police powers of West New York to regulate the hours of collection of solid waste and recyclable materials. The 💝ordinance state🌌s that it is in the best interests of the town to do that, as has been successfully done in other adjacent municipalities.

The collection times for both solid waste and recyclable materials for commercial and industrial establishments within West New York by private parties is restricted to between the hours of 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. Such solid waste and recyclable material pick-up must be completed tow💎n-wide no later than 7 a.m.

Any person, firm, corporation or association violating the ordinance will be subject to a fine of $100 for each violation. If the violation continꦚues, each d𝔍ay constitutes a separate and distinct offense.

In addition, any violator of disposal and separation requirements of solid waste and recycling will be subject to a𓂃 fine♛ of $500 for a first violation, and $1,000 for each subsequent and additional violation.
