At 11:14 a.m. on July 9, 2024, the Bayonne Fire Department responded to a call about a structure fire at 120 West 44th St🅺.
Fire Chief Keith Weaver reported that firefighters arrived quickly to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the seco🧔nd floor of th🌺e two-story home.
The🌳 team quickly deployed multi𒀰ple hand lines to tackle the blaze.
Despite the challenging high heat con🤡ditions, the firefighters controlled the fire by 11:43 a.m., less than 30 minutes after their arrival.
A second alarm was raised to ensure sufficient manpower and 💮relief for the fatigued firefighters.
Quick Response Prevents Spread
The fire caused significant disruption, displacing 9 residents from the two-family building. The American Red Cross is currently providing support to♓ these individuals.
Tragically, one resident sust𝕴ained burns and was promptly transported to a local hospital by McCabe EMS. Additionally, a Bayonne 🐻firefighter suffered a minor injury and is receiving medical treatment.
