A jury has convicted a Union City man of sexually assaulting a child at a public pool, accord♓ing to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
On Tꦕhursday, April 14, Angel Rosario-Sanchez, a 22-year-old of Union City, was convicted of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy in 2019.
A jury found Rosario-Sanchez guilty o꧂f Sexual Assault by Contact, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a crime of the third degree.
The verdict was delivered before Hudson County Superior Cour💛t Judge Nesle Rodriguez foꦚllowing a five day trial.
An investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Union City Police Department determined Rosario-Sanchez committed a sex crime on an 8-year-old boy he did not know at the Firefig♒hters’ Memorial Pool on 9th Street in Union City on July 30, 2019.
The jury found Rosario-Sanchez not guilty of similar charges invo♌lving a 12 year-old 𓃲boy on the same day.
Rosario-Sanchez is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, July 15, 2022🌼.
The Sexual Assault by Contac🐻t charge carries a sentence of 5 to 10 years in State Prison and the Endangering the Welfare of a🤪 Child charge carries a sentence of 3 to 5 years in State Prison.
His♓ sentence is also subject to Megan’s Law and Parole S♉upervision for Life.
The State was represented at trial by Hudson County Assistant Prosec♓utor Angela Halverson💖 and SVU Assistant Chief Prosecutor Jane Weiner.
